Isle of Man to mark International Men’s Day

The Isle of Man will be celebrating International Men’s day with a range of organisations taking part at Isle of Man College in Douglas on International Men’s Day itself.

As the news story sets out:

Health and well-being co-ordinator Kate Bergquist said: ‘The overall aim of the day will be to treat the guys to lots of nice treats and to raise awareness of boys’ health and their safety.

‘People all over the world are used to relating to men as protectors and providers.

‘But how often do we consider the actions we can all take to protect men and boys from harm and provide them with a safe world where they can thrive and prosper?’

The college beauty department will offer free treatments to the boys and men that attend, and staff and students will be baking cakes.

Organisations which have been invited to attend include Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, The Children’s Centre, St John Ambulance, Elite Fitness and Macmillan Cancer Care.

The event coincides with Movember – which sees men grow moustaches to raise awareness of male cancers – and all proceeds will go men’s cancer charities.
