The aims for 2020 are to
– Make a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
– Promote a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity
– Raise awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing
Did you know
– That men have a higher male suicide rate
– That there are specific challenges faced by boys and men at all stages of education including attainment
– That men have shorter life expectancy and are more likely to be the victim of a workplace deaths (Men are more likely than women to die prematurely and one in five men dies before the age of 65 and have a 37% higher risk of dying from cancer overall, while men are 56% more likely to develop non gender-specific cancers than women and 67% more likely to die from them )
– That men are more likely to be homeless and that there is a higher rate of male deaths in custody
Men can also be
– victims of violence, including sexual violence
– can face particular challenges in relation to their rights as fathers
