SUMMARY:Hillsong - Online Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Men’s Day 2020 is just around the corner and we would love to have all the men\, young and old\, in our church to virtually gather at the same time. Ironically (or prophetically) the theme this year is ‘HOLD FAST’. \n  \nI wonder what those couple words mean to you personally at the moment? We’ve decided to make it a special afternoon/evening gathering and we’re not just doing this for the sake of it! There’s power in unity and as a team\, we’ll jam pack as much content as we can into the small space of time we have together and ensure it’s engaging and helpful for all the brother’s\, son’s and father’s  of our Church. \nWith challenging panel conversations\, A Mile In My Shoes stories\, creative items\, a few competitions along the way and a message from our guest Erwin McManus\, the day has been tailored for you! \nhttps://hillsong.com/uk/mensday/

SUMMARY:Forthright Arts Play: The Gary & Robert Blues
DESCRIPTION:The play focuses on one man isolating himself\, as he uses the creation of a new stand-up comedy act to help him reconnect with the world. Throughout the production\, he is interrupted by messages left on his answer phone from friends\, family and work and a food delivery man . They serve as his slender connection to the real world outside. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an experimental piece of ‘theatre’. Originally designed to be played to a live audience in a performance space using surround sound enhanced by visual images on a screen. This was aimed at giving people the shared experience of a theatre performance. It also goes back to the early days of radio\, when families would gather around the radio set to listen to a comedy show or a weekly thriller. \nHowever\, due to the ongoing COVID restrictions we will have to share the first performances online. It would be great if our audience could gather to listen in household/bubble groups; obviously\, following any current COVID guidelines and ensuring that everyone is kept safe. Your feedback about the show will be vital to us so that we can see if our experiment has been successful. \nNB the play contains occasional bad language and tackles a difficult subject in an adult and honest way. \nRecommended age 16+

For International Men’s Day\, we invite him to talk from his recent memoir\,It’s Not All Blood And Guts\, available from all good booksellers. \nFrom his early days as a hospital cadet\, through to running his own consultancy\, expert witness and training company\, we will hear some fascinating\, sometimes shocking\, patient stories. We will travel with Gary as he heads for Canada and the USA\, returning with ideas that not only transformed the care at his own hospital but also influenced A&E nursing and paramedic development across the UK. We will also hear what it was like starting out in a predominantly female profession in the 1970s. \nPlease register to attend and a link will be circulated in advance with instructions on how to join the event. SUMMARY:Lancashire Recovery College - Recovery in Focus
DESCRIPTION:Recovery in Focus – Online \nProduced in partnership with Positive Focus\, this session will look at the merits of photography as a tool for maintaining well being. Photography as a hobby can help those who suffer from anxiety and depression\, experience the peaceful beauty of creation. All aspects of photography can help separate you from common modern day thoughts\, helping to focus and meditate on the peaceful harmony that exists in photography. Although it is nice to just visit a park or other recreational area\, photography forces an individual to narrow his or her thoughts on a specific subject while blocking all else out . This forum has been developed in recognition of International Men’s Day. \nThe course will last one hour and will run on Thursday 19th of November at 1:30pm . The session will be run via Microsoft Teams. \nPositive Focus \nPositive Focus is a non profit community group constituted in 2018 where the majority of our supporters including our committee have related experience with mental health. Our core work is to support those who suffer and have suffered from mental health issues. We also provide support for carers in the same field by giving respite in the form of project courses and quality events. Based in Chorley\, we serve those with issues such as depression\, anxiety and isolation throughout the Lancashire area. We have grown from a group of photographers and professionals finding that our skills can make a difference in using photography as a platform to enhance one’s quality of life. Photography has been proven as a substantial aid in taking the mind to a better place with the narrative of expressing and handling one’s feelings. By separating everyday events\, looking through a looking glass and capturing the wonder and splendour the world has to offer\, the imagination and use of this long standing hobby can assist people to take respite from depressing thoughts. It can also lift confidence by being involved with people socially. We have the skills required and are here to help. \nLancashire Recovery College provides a learning service that works alongside experts by experience and professionals by experience\, to co-produce courses that enhance wellbeing and social opportunities in your community. \nThis co-produced course has been developed and will be delivered alongside people who truly understand and can share their lived experience. We believe this approach captures the true values of recovery Hope\, Opportunity and Control. \nFAQs \n*This course is run online through Microsoft Teams.
