SUMMARY:Peppy Men's Health Launch: Speaking Men’s Language (Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:The statistics are shocking. 1 in 5 of your male colleagues will die before they’re old enough to retire. 2 in 3 men are overweight and middle-aged men are twice as likely to have diabetes as women\, yet twice as likely not to know. \nThe pandemic has highlighted the extent of the problem\, with men at any given age more likely to die of Covid than women. \nNew Webinar: Speaking Men’s Language – How To Talk To Male Colleagues About Health \n \nThe problem and the solution both begin at work\nThe reasons are complex. Lifestyle\, eating and drinking habits\, social factors\, cultural beliefs about masculinity and not wanting to be seen as weak. These all play a part and make it harder for men to ask for help. \nCrucially\, before retirement\, working men seek GP support 50% less than women – retired men are just as likely to see their GP as retired women.  Men’s health\, and the problems with it\, begin in the workplace. \nWhen you consider that males make up over half of the workforce\, it’s clear that employers have cause for concern. \nRecognising this challenge\, Peppy is proud to announce the launch of its men’s health service\, Peppy Men. To mark this launch\, they will be running a free to attend Make A Difference webinar: “Speaking men’s language: how to talk to male colleagues about health.” \nJoin us from 12.00pm to 1.00pm on Wednesday 17th November\, two days before International Men’s Day\, and gain actionable advice and concrete insights into simple steps employers can take to make a difference including: \n\nThe key men’s health challenges that HR/line managers should be aware of\nHow to get men – regardless of age or sector – to talk about the issues they are facing\nHow to educate and support employees with a culture of openness\nWhy it’s important to have male specific support\n\nFeaturing expert speakers:\n\nMridula Pore\, Co-CEO and Co-founder\, Peppy\nLee McNamara\, Group Head of Internal Communications and Culture\, DFS\nDr Richard Viney\, Consultant Urological Surgeon\nHelen Lake\, Director of Men’s Health Services\, Peppy\n\nThe content is designed for HR Leaders\, Talent\, Engagement and Communication Leaders\, Equality\, Diversity & Inclusion Leaders\, Wellbeing Leaders and Champions. In other words\, anyone who is responsible for the wellbeing of male colleagues. \nThe webinar is open to all but is particularly relevant for organisations with 500+ employees. \nRegister here to reserve your place. \n

SUMMARY:Dads in Law Online Conference: Strategies for Maximising Work and Family Balance
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION\n\n\nIn recognition of International Men’s Day\, The Legal Training Consultancy is partnering up with Parent & Professional to run a half-day conference to help law practitioners improve the balance between their role as a father and the demands on their time from their profession. \nDate \nThursday 18 Nov 2021 (9:30 AM – 1:00 PM) \nOnline: Zoom \nBook your place \nBooking Page \nWhy are we doing this? \nNearly 70% of lawyers believe they work in the most stressful profession\, with an astounding 80% blaming workload as the key source of their stress. At Parent and Professional we absolutely believe this balance is possible – but how? This conference aims to hear from experts in their field as well as working dads in the law – how do they do it? \nWho this is for? \nAll working dads in the legal profession: perhaps you have had a difficult experience during your journey as a working dad; or perhaps you are just coping with the day-to-day demands of juggling the roles of parent and professional. \nHR/D&I/L&D/Family Network Leads – those who want to hear about the latest challenges for working dads and consider ways to help support them. \nWhat’s in the half day conference? \nWe’re bringing together wellbeing and performance coaching experts to offer dads working in the legal profession a morning of the latest research\, tips and advice to balance their career with all stages of parenthood. \nTimetable: \n09:30 – Chairman’s opening remarks Ian Dinwiddy\, Dads Coach\, Parent & Professional Ltd \n09:40 – Opening address by Mark Brooks OBE\, Ambassador for International Men’s Day \n09:55 – First session “Why men’s work life balance matters to everyone” with Ian Dinwiddy \n10:30 – Making it work in practice: panel event dads in law firms Sidley Austin\, Taylor Vinters and Pinsent Masons (from Associates to Partners) will discuss their personal challenges and experiences of combining a career in the law with their role as a father \n11:35 – Second session ‘The Elephant in the Room: Fatherhood\, Work\, Life and Wellbeing in the Legal Profession’ with Professor Richard Collier FAcSS FRSA Newcastle Law School \n11.55 – Third session ‘Developing strategies to achieve your version of work life balance” with Ian Dinwiddy \n12.25 – What’s needed now to support working dads? Actions moving forward which will make a difference at an individual and organisational level. Helen Letchfield\, Co-founder of Parent & Professional Ltd\, in discussion with experts in law firms: \nMary Peterson\, Head of Talent and Learning\, Addleshaw Goddard LLP \nKate Fergusson\, Head of Responsible Business at Pinsent Masons \n12:50 – Questions and concluding remarks \n1:00 – Conference ends \nWhat will I take away? \n\nStrategies for maximising the work/life balance/avoiding the problems and pitfalls\nManaging dads effectively/maximising dads’ wellbeing and professional performance\nWhat’s special about dads?\nCoping mechanisms\nAvoiding applying the “this is the way we did it in my day” approach\nHow to implement change at a personal and possible organisational level\n\nPrice: \nThe price for this is £225 + VAT. This is a per organisation price\, so up to 19 of your colleagues can participate at no extra charge\, even if they are viewing it from a different location or at a different time. SUMMARY:Fatherhood and Mental Health - Frog Systems event
DESCRIPTION:We are marking International Men’s Day with a discussion about the impact that fatherhood can have on men’s mental health.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nWe are marking International Men’s Day today with a discussion about the impact that fatherhood can have on men’s mental health. We will explore the pressures that men face at home and in the workplace before and after becoming fathers. The fact that men are often sidelined because there is more interest in the mother\, they are suddenly expected to know exactly how to parent and be a great dad\, they feel pressure to earn more to support their family financially\, and traditionally they’ve been seen as weak if they say they can’t cope. \nWe will be joined by three dads who are advocates for men’s positive mental health and a society in which all parents are given help and support. \nMark Williams is an international campaigner\, has co-written reports for government and a book Daddy Blues (the film of which is being premiered tonight) and coaches health professionals on how to provide better the ante-natal and post-natal support for men. \nJamie Cooke is a father of three who juggles fatherhood with running the Royal Society of Arts in Scotland and is a global campaigner for a fairer\, more inclusive society. He did a degree in primary education and is heavily involved in supporting community projects. \nKieron Achara\, a former Olympic basketball player and dad of two. He’s a busy broadcaster who has become a firm advocate for men’s mental health awareness. He is also a consultant with us at Frog Systems focusing on delivering mental health and wellbeing platforms in sport
