SUMMARY:Cemetery Club: Male Allies - Historical Men Who Have Empowered Women
DESCRIPTION:An online talk examining the historical men who worked with women for equality and empowerment\n\n\n\n\n\nThis International Men’s Day (Thursday 19th November) join two historians for a special collaborative event!\n\n\nIMD is celebrated around the world in over 60 countries and aims at highlighting the issues that affect men and boys\, including promoting a positive conversation about men\, manhood and masculinity. \nWe want to mark the day by sharing the stories and learn about some of the men who used their positions in society to aid women in the fight for empowerment and equality. Men who used their wealth to finance and stand side by side with the women’s movement\, as well as those who\, during the horrific suffragette protest on Black Friday\, stood in solidarity with the women who suffered and the men of modern times who continue to call out casual sexism in film\, television and sport. \nThis one hour talk will be hosted online via Zoom\, a link will be sent to you on the afternoon of Thursday 19th and there will be time for questions at the end. \nBecky Laxton-Bass is the founder of Women of London\, a tour-guiding company that highlights\, recognises and celebrates the role of historical Women across the capital and shall be conducting this talk alongside fellow tour guide and \nSheldon K. Goodman\, founder of the Cemetery Club\, which seeks to reinterpret cemeteries as more than places of remembrance and mourning\, but as Museums of People. \nPlease note the ticket price will be split evenly three ways between WOL\, CC and CALM\, a charity dedicated to preventing male suicide\, through their campaigns such as Project 84 and DontBottleItUp raise awareness of male mental health and challenge negative/toxic male stereotypes. \nBook now to join us for this special IMD event!

Etc etc.\n\nWe will be screening this through zoom\, if you want to turn up to watch and we can make some comments in the chat bar of the zoom call while we watch. Or you can watch the documentary in your own time and just turn up for that chat. \nthe link to the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLzeakKC6fE&t=1s \nTrigger warning: the documentary contains some reference to rape and violence and a lot of misogynistic content  \nZOOM LINK: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82741971431?pwd=RFovbEI4VEJoQllsekltWmJBWDZGQT09

SUMMARY:Forthright Arts Play: The Gary & Robert Blues
DESCRIPTION:The play focuses on one man isolating himself\, as he uses the creation of a new stand-up comedy act to help him reconnect with the world. Throughout the production\, he is interrupted by messages left on his answer phone from friends\, family and work and a food delivery man . They serve as his slender connection to the real world outside. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an experimental piece of ‘theatre’. Originally designed to be played to a live audience in a performance space using surround sound enhanced by visual images on a screen. This was aimed at giving people the shared experience of a theatre performance. It also goes back to the early days of radio\, when families would gather around the radio set to listen to a comedy show or a weekly thriller. \nHowever\, due to the ongoing COVID restrictions we will have to share the first performances online. It would be great if our audience could gather to listen in household/bubble groups; obviously\, following any current COVID guidelines and ensuring that everyone is kept safe. Your feedback about the show will be vital to us so that we can see if our experiment has been successful. \nNB the play contains occasional bad language and tackles a difficult subject in an adult and honest way. \nRecommended age 16+

SUMMARY:Hillsong - Online Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Men’s Day 2020 is just around the corner and we would love to have all the men\, young and old\, in our church to virtually gather at the same time. Ironically (or prophetically) the theme this year is ‘HOLD FAST’. \n  \nI wonder what those couple words mean to you personally at the moment? We’ve decided to make it a special afternoon/evening gathering and we’re not just doing this for the sake of it! There’s power in unity and as a team\, we’ll jam pack as much content as we can into the small space of time we have together and ensure it’s engaging and helpful for all the brother’s\, son’s and father’s  of our Church. \nWith challenging panel conversations\, A Mile In My Shoes stories\, creative items\, a few competitions along the way and a message from our guest Erwin McManus\, the day has been tailored for you! \nhttps://hillsong.com/uk/mensday/
