International Men’s Day 2021 – Get Involved!

International Men’s Day in the UK in 2020 was the best ever – over 200 events and huge support on social media! With your help 2021, can be even bigger!

This year International Men’s Day is on Friday 19th November 2021 but many events are held all over November.

There is plenty of information on how to be involved on the website with great ideas here.

The 2021 themes are:

The UK themes for the Day are:

  •  Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
  • Promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity
  • Raising awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing

In the UK, there are lots of fantastic opportunities for you to get involved, including:

  • Highlight some serious issues affecting men and boys and their wellbeing (see this page for the theme and issues)
  • Encourage and support men and boys in getting support including signposting and making it more accessible
  • Hold events, run campaigns, tweet/post/send messages
  • Raise money for charities supporting men and boys
  • Promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity
  • Celebrate Britain’s men and boys
  • Have some fun!

A range of the wellbeing issues include:

  • The high male suicide rate
  • The challenges faced by boys and men at all stages of education and work including attainment, re-training, redundancy and unemployment
  • Men’s health (including male cancers), shorter life expectancy and workplace deaths
  • The challenges faced by the most marginalised men and boys in society (for instance, homeless men, boys in care, school exclusions and the high rate of male deaths in custody)
  • Male victims of violence, including sexual violence
  • The challenges faced by men as parents, particularly new fathers and separated fathers
  • Male victims and survivors of sexual abuse, rape, sexual exploitation, domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour-based crime, stalking and slavery
  • The negative portrayal of men, boys and fathers
