A session to discuss male sexual violence and abuse, increase understanding, and provide ways of supporting, not silencing, male survivors.The Rape and Sexual Violence Project (RSVP) specialist training team would like to invite you to attend one of our 2024 ‘Bite Size Training Sessions’.They are interactive and online training events and our ‘Male Survivors of Sexual Violence and Abuse’ session will:
- Examine how many men and boys are subjected to sexual violence and abuse.
- Discuss institutional sexual violence and abuse.
- Explore the myths surrounding male survivors of sexual violence and abuse.
- Discuss stereotypes of ‘masculinity’ and the impact on survivors.
- Look at victim blaming for male survivors.
- Discuss how we can support visibility of male survivors and not promote silence.
- Examine the impacts on survivors and how to support.
- Identify barriers for male survivors when accessing support services, and identify ways of overcoming these barriers
