Overview
International Men’s Day is celebrated each year on the 19th November. There are 6 pillars supporting the celebration of IMD:
1.To promote positive male role models
2.To celebrate men’s positive contribution to society
3.To focus on men’s health and wellbeing
4.To highlight discrimination against men
5.To improve gender relations and promote gender equality
6.To create a safer, better world
Current research tells us that:
•Men have a suicide rate 3 times higher than women
•1 in 3 men have been victims of domestic abuse
•Men on average die 4-5 years before women
•Men are nearly 2 times as likely to suffer from lung cancer
•Men are twice as likely to suffer from heart disease
To celebrate IMD this year, enei are holding a webinar focussing on men’s health and will be joined by key specialists in this area. We will look at what are the key issues and how employers can help employees and employees help themselves.
