Determination and positivity can be incredibly inspirational. Appealed by such qualities, we can learn powerful lessons from those who defy the odds and prove their capability in achieving the unattainable.
In marking International Men’s Day, which originated in Trinidad and Tobago back in 1992 to raise awareness of achievements and contributions to community and family and issues facing men globally, our event focusses on one man and his determination to succeed.
The IUA HR & Training Committee are pleased to welcome their guest speaker, Michael Edwards aka Eddie The Eagle, who came to the forefront of people’s attention in 1988 when he competed for Great Britain at the Winter Olympics. Despite coming last in the ski jump, Eddie became famous for summing up the Olympic spirit and for his determination to represent his country without any form of funding.
From plasterer to Olympic competitor, Eddie is also a qualified Lawyer, a prominent ski instructor and author. He is a keen contributor to TV and radio programmes and a Patron of Ski 4 Cancer. After retiring from ski jumping, he became the world number nine in amateur speed skiing.
We are honoured to welcome Eddie to the IUA, where he will address the audience on overcoming adversity, personal endurance and trusting your own ability to learn, train and improve with determination to accomplish your goals on both a personal and professional level (both on and off piste!)
This presentation will include film clips.
